In 2010, Mike Etzel and Carey Critchlow purchased a stunning parcel of land, nestled adjacent to Beaux Freres' esteemed Upper Terrace Vineyard. Here, they thoughtfully planted a 12-acre Pinot noir site showcasing a meticulously curated selection of 17 distinct clones. Sheltered by a protective stand of Douglas Fir on three sides, this gentle south-facing slope basks in an exceptional terroir, endowing the vineyard with unparalleled character. Remaining true to their commitment to sustainable viticulture, the virgin marine sedimentary soils in the vineyard have only been farmed with organic and biodynamic principles to preserve the native ground cover and biodiversity.
Sequitur Pinot noir embodies the quintessential essence of Ribbon Ridge, lavishing the palate with a mesmerizingly silken texture and an abundance of ripe Oregon blackberries. Its alluring umami nuances are delicate with notes of cocoa nibs, earthy chanterelle mushrooms, and the evocative scents of the forest floor. It exhibits the subtlety of Five-spice alongside bacon fat undertones and is almost reminiscent of slightly charred bread. A harmonious interplay of juicy acidity dances gracefully on the palate and the wine's unctuous texture gently enrobes the senses culminating in a luxuriously complete finish.
